SUPPORT

How can we help?

Letterss is built and supported by a very small team. The fastest way to reach a real human is email — we usually reply within a day, often the same hour.

Common questions

I sent a letter but my friend says they haven't received it yet.

Letters take three days to deliver — that's by design. The recipient will see it appear in their inbox seventy-two hours after you sent it. If three days have fully passed and they still don't see it, email us with the approximate send date and we'll investigate.

Why is there a 300-word minimum?

Three hundred words is roughly the threshold where you can't write a letter on autopilot. It forces a small amount of thought, which is the whole point. We may adjust the number over time, but we won't remove the minimum.

Can I send a second letter without waiting for a reply?

Only after your previous letter has been delivered to the recipient. You can't queue up multiple unread letters to the same person — Letterss is turn-based on purpose. If you want to add to what you said, write a longer follow-up after they reply.

Can you read my letters?

No. Letters are encrypted on your phone before they reach our servers, using a key that lives only in your iPhone's Keychain. We can see who sent a letter to whom and when, but not what the letter says. Read more in the privacy policy.

I got a new phone. How do I read my old letters?

This is the trade-off of true end-to-end encryption: your private key lives in the iPhone you signed up on. If you sign in on a new device, you can read every letter you receive from that point on, but past letters that were encrypted to your old key will not be readable on the new device.

Before you switch phones, you can email us to request a plain-text export of every letter on your account, and we'll send it after verifying it's really you.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app, go to Settings → Delete Account. This removes your profile, your friend graph, and every letter you've sent or received. The encryption key on your device is also wiped. The action is permanent and cannot be undone.

If you can't sign in, email us from the address associated with the account and we'll handle it manually.

Someone is harassing me through Letterss. What do I do?

Open the letter, tap the menu, and choose Report. You can also block the sender from your contacts list. Reports are reviewed by a human, and the most severe violations result in permanent account removal. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

I forgot which email or phone number I signed up with.

Email [email protected] from any address you might have used and we'll help locate the account.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. iOS first.

How is Letterss different from email or texting?

Email and texting are designed for instant, short, frequent messages. Letterss is designed for slow, long, deliberate ones. The constraints — three days, three hundred words, one at a time — are what make a letter feel like a letter and not a notification.
